Uptons celebrates champion awards at BPEX
Our shop counter has been adorned with new trophies, after we scooped a staggering total of sixteen awards at the BPEX South of England Roadshow last week. Held at the South of England Showground in Ardingly, the industry competition showcases product excellence and innovation from regional independent butchers.
Uptons was named champion in two categories, achieving a perfect score to win the Speciality Cold Eating Pie award for our Pork, Apple & Brandy recipe. Another customer favourite, our Pork & Beef Meatballs in Herb Tomato Sauce were crowned champion in the Meatballs & Faggots category.
The prize haul also included nine gold, six silver and one bronze award from a selection of Uptons entries.
Uptons proprietor, Simon Broadribb, said; “We always do well in these competitions, but the feeling you get when you hear your name called out as champion is still very special. Using quality local ingredients, and free range meat wherever possible, helps us create attractive, tasty products. I hope our customers will be pleased to see their foodie favourites getting the accolades they deserve!”
